This Could Be You!!!![]() I don’t buy raffle tickets to win. I buy raffle tickets to help support the charities out there taking the time to make a difference in this world. I would like to thank you for making the world a little better each and every year. I won $5000 in 2019 and it helped me pay for a medical procedure not covered by insurance. So even your prizes help people in a wonderful way. Keep up the energy to carry on and I will continue to buy one ticket at a time. Thank you Marble Falls Rotary! Kim Carver ![]() I never expected to win but have had the unique position of having been on a winning ticket twice over the years. The first time I won with my 3 siblings and my Mom.
|
|
Jim Weber - $10,000 Winner![]() I’ve been an active participant and a believer in Rotary Club of Marble Falls $10000 night since it was a twinkling in Susie Keiser’s eye many years ago. It symbolizes fun, entertainment, and more importantly, started out as a source of scholarship funds to benefit worthy local high school graduating seniors. Marble Falls Noon Rotary began the fundraiser selling only 200 tickets at $100 each per event. The basis for $10000 Night is a reverse drawing where the last ticket drawn out of the barrel is the winner of $10000 and $10000 goes to scholarship recipients. A few years ago, the Rotary Board decided to raise the bar and upped the club ticket sales to 300 per event. This allowed the Club to distribute $20,000 to scholarship recipients and to local non-profits. I never expected to win but have had the unique position of having been on a winning ticket twice over the years. The first time I won with my 3 siblings and my Mom. My sister was with me in the Hill Country Community Theatre when we won. I remember going up on stage with Sherrie and receiving the prize in disbelief that we had actually won. |

Food Flash Mob![]() On Saturday, 28 March, we took Chick-Fil-a sandwiches for 80 people to HEB. They loved it! The following Monday we fed 75 workers at Wal-Mart. On Tuesday, we fed 100 people at Marble Falls ISD Central Office and all maintenance and cafeteria workers at every school campus. On Wednesday, we fed every one working at the MF Police Station, Fire Fighters, EMS, and Air Evac facilities. We have money yet to spend and looking for the next place to go. On Thursday, on the Rotary Club of Marble Falls Zoom meeting……other club members voiced a desire to join our group as well. We don’t know where this will take us, or how much additional money we will raise, but it leaves you feeling good. It fills a void in these days with time on our hands and a Rotarian’s heart just looking for ways to offer the deserving workers SERVICE ABOVE SELF.

This is indeed a great honor and the beginning of your personal commitment to Service above Self. The New Rotary Year will begin with the largest Rotary function of the District, The Marble Falls Fish Fry. For the past 68 years, Marble Falls Rotary Club has been hosting all of the Clubs in the District. The Fish Fry is not a fundraiser. It is a time for all of the presidents, officers and members to get together and enjoy the best catfish around, prepared by our own club members. This year it will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Lakeside Pavilion, 307 Buena Vista, on scenic Lake Marble Falls. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Bring your officers, club members and spouses and join us in our annual celebration! Your club will be recognized at the event. We are proud to announce that this year's speaker is Past District Governor, Lisa Herring, of San Antonio District 5840. She will be a delight to all in attendance. Global Grant to the Rotary Club of Marble FallsPRESS RELEASE March 1, 2018 Area Rotary Clubs helping to control Cholera in Mexican Mountains The Rotary International Foundation of Evanston, Illinois has awarded a $50,000 Global Grant to the Rotary Club of Marble Falls and the Huejutla (way-hoot-la) Centenario Club of Huejutla de Reyes, Mexico. The purpose of the grant is to establish water purification stations primarily in the indigent Sierra Madres Mountains just outside of Huejutla. The program will be a joint effort of the Rotary, the County of Huejutla and the CECyTE magnet school also located in Huejutla. Although no longer as common worldwide, cholera is still highly prominent in this region that struggles with poor water contamination and unregulated sanitation. The disease is spread from person to person through water and contaminated feces, from both animals and humans, causing serve sickness and even death. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) 90% of Mexico’s cholera cases are from the state of Hidalgo, where Huejutla is located. Hidalgo lies north east of Mexico City. The initial project will place 4 purification stations in the region. One of the stations will serve as a training site that will teach students to maintain and operate the purification sites. The CECyTE School has an enrollment of over 500 students many from the indigent areas. The school also plans to maintain a permanent program of water purification and sanitation. Along with area Rotarians they plan an extensive sanitation education program. This project, if successful, will be sustaining leading to dozens more stations in state of Hidalgo. In addition to the Marble Falls Noon Rotary Club, the project is also being funded by other area clubs including the Rotary Daybreak Club of Marble Falls, The Rotary Club of Burnet and the Rotary Club of Lakeway/Lake Travis. Rotary is one of the world’s most prestigious service clubs with over 1.2 million members, with more than 33,000 clubs in 200 countries worldwide. The foundation was recently voted as the Worlds Outstanding Charity in 2017 by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The cornerstone of this excellence has been its 30 year Polio Plus campaign to erase polio. Starting in 1985 it has reduced the number of worldwide reported cases from 350,000 yearly to just under 300 in 2017. Also the number of countries where polio has been reported to be just 3. The foundation along with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has raised over 1.3 billion dollars for this effort. For more information please contact Rotary at www.rotaryorg. The Rotary Club of Marble Falls meets every Thursday, noon at the River City Grille ;www.marblefallsrotary.org. RAW (Rotary After Work) will be this Thursday, from 5:30 -6:30 at On the Rocks. It was supposed to be at Bella Sera but they have scheduled another group there.
Starting in November, RAW will meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at Enotecca in Marble Falls from 5:30-6:30.
If you are a current member, do a make-up with us.
If you are a former member, consider rejoining Rotary and making us your regular meeting time and place. We are looking to increase Rotary membership by having this evening meeting a couple of times a month. It will be informal but will give you an opportunity to stay involved with the community and serve others without the weekly obligation. The idea is to make participating in Rotary work with your schedule with membership tied to the existing clubs in Marble Falls. We are not starting an additional club.
We look forward to seeing you this week or in November.
